Getting a custom RC body printed

Most RC body requests we see start from a photo of a real vehicle, often the owner's own car or truck, sized to fit a specific chassis. 1/10 scale is the most common, for chassis like the Traxxas Slash and TRX-4, followed by 1/8 and 1/18 bodies, crawler bodies, and drift shells.

Starting from a photo or an idea?

Which material for an RC body?

PETG: tougher and less brittle than PLA. A good default for crawlers and bashers.
ASA or ABS: handle heat and sun better. Good for bodies that run outdoors or near a hot motor.
TPU: flexible, so it survives rollovers. Popular for crawler bodies, but heavier and harder to paint.
PLA: fine for display bodies. It can crack in a crash and soften in a hot car.

Painting and finishing

Printed bodies show layer lines. Operators can paint your body, for example to match your real vehicle. Describe the finish you want in the chat.

Weight

A printed hard body is heavier than a vacuum-formed polycarbonate (Lexan) shell, which matters on fast on-road and drift cars.

What materials can my print be made in?

We print in PLA, PETG, ABS, ASA, TPU, Nylon, Polycarbonate, and carbon-fiber blends (PLA-CF, Nylon-CF, and PC-CF). Need something else? Chat with a design operator and they can look at other materials for your project.

Which material is best for me?

For a basic plastic print, go with PLA. For a simple prototype, PLA or PETG. For a flexible part, TPU. For strength, ASA, ABS, or a carbon-fiber blend. For heat resistance, ASA or a carbon-fiber blend.

Can you paint or finish my print?
